BMW X5 Third GenerationF15, 2014 to 2018

The 2014-2018 F15 X5 refined the E70 formula with more luxury, technology, and efficient turbo engines.

Show listings
Market and reliability summary

The F15 is often the modern used-X5 bridge: more polished than E70, less screen-heavy than late G05, and available with several very different powertrain personalities.

Inspect engine-specific maintenance, fuel/propulsion records, suspension options, electrical and camera behavior, and tire wear on staggered-wheel or M Sport examples.

Editorial notes summarize stable BMW X5 generation differences. Live market and NHTSA metrics are computed separately.

Frequently asked questions

Common shopper questions about BMW X5 generations, pricing, and reliability.

Which BMW X5 generation should I compare first?
Start with G05 for the current technology, driver-assistance, and plug-in hybrid options; F15 for a more mature modern used X5; and E70 or E53 only if condition and service records are strong enough to justify older luxury-SUV risk.
Should I compare X5 plug-in hybrids with gas X5 listings?
Compare them separately. xDrive45e and xDrive50e listings need charging-use-case, hybrid-system, software, and service-history checks that do not apply the same way to gas-only X5s.
What does the 2024 X5 LCI change?
The 2024 LCI updates the G05 with newer engines, 48V mild-hybrid technology on many variants, updated screens, and the xDrive50e plug-in hybrid. Compare pre-LCI and LCI inventory separately.
